She was brought into the world by an American doctor, her father being stationed at the base as a sergeant in South Vietnam's army.Fortunately, Diem's family moved to a town in the hill country, well before her birth place earned it's nickname "The Alamo", by becoming the "last stand" for a group of unfortunate soldiers who were retreating from the Viet Cong's rapid advance across Vietnam in 1975.Diem was never involved in the military, nor did she witness a single battle. Her interest was always on building a good life in the difficult world that resulted from the war, overcoming major obstacles with a focus on the spiritual side of life, beauty in nature, and compassion for others. Now living in Texas, USA, she has written her autobiography to serve as an encouragement for anyone who thinks they have unmanageable problems; for, Diem found an answer to each and every one of her own, starting with developing an ingenious way to overcome paralysis in her legs that resulted from childhood Polio. Her book teaches us that answers are always available; we only require the courage to take that first step, and then "Walk Around The Tree".visualizza meno
