For the last few years, he has been the local editor of the Zagat Survey. He has been a significant contributor to other guides: The Ultimate Food Lover’s Guide to Houston and Where the Locals Eat. He has written regularly for My Table - Houston’s Dining Magazine since 2004, and the Galveston County Daily News since 2010. Additionally, he posts several articles a week about restaurants, food and wine for Examiner.com. In the January 2011 issue of My Table he was named one of “100 Houston Tastemakers.”
He is also the co-author of The Guide to Ridiculously Easy Entertaining. He is currently – and since 2008 – working on a book entitled Eating Italian in America about the history of Italian food in this country. A lengthy excerpt is currently available as an eBook, From the Antipasto to the Zabaglione - The Story of Italian Restaurants in America.
