Nine days after his birth he and his mother joined the thousands of refugees who fled across Siberia. Miraculously reunited 4 years later, Boris and his parents were finally able to immigrate to San Francisco. He spoke Russian at home but attended public schools. Boris graduated in International Relations from the University of California at Berkeley. He served for five years in the Army of the United States, in the US and in the European Theater during World War II. Upon returning to the US, he received a Masters in English and Creative Writing from Stanford University while teaching at the Stegner Creative Writing Center and publishing his first novel, Green Boundary. Recalled to Washington, D.C. in 1950, he participated in the first nineteen years of the Cold War. Upon retirement he settled in the San Francisco Bay Area and turned his attentions to painting and writing.visualizza meno
