Before eventually settling permanently in New York with her husband and sons, the family lived in Atlanta, Georgia, and then Birmingham, Alabama, where she lived in the country in Shades Valley and led a “wholesome out of door life raising boys and chickens.”
In 1912, completely out of the blue, she began to have other-worldly experiences, and five years thereafter, in 1917, she found herself listening to an inner voice which directed her to write; she undertook an experiment and felt herself “divide,” as if part of her were watching herself and the other part were observing her from a vantage point outside her body.
She began taking dictation on the messages which came to her during these out-of-body experiences, and these writings became her popular books of the 1930s: The Tower of Light; The Flaming Sword; and The Song of Sano Tarot.visualizza meno
