She was forever pestering her parents to take her to visit ancient churches, ruined castles and pre-historic settlements. A graduate of Westminster College, Oxford, von Eger became a teacher but on immigrating to Canada in the 1970's she took up a new profession as a legal assistant. Today she travels extensively, frequently combining her travels with visits to important archaeological sites. She describes herself as a wannabe archaeologist and a traveler with a serious ruin addiction. Also an accomplished artist, she currently lives in North Vancouver.
