He attended Saint Mary's College in Moraga, California, graduating in 1968 with a BA in Psychology. Following college, he enlisted in the US Army. He was assigned to an artillery unit in Korea. Following his discharge, Mr. Sullivan attended San Francisco State University and received his teaching credential in Special Education. After several years in this field, Mr. Sullivan went to work for the California Department of Correction in 1984, eventually retiring in 2007 as an Associate Warden. He and his wife, Virginia, reside in Sonora, California. Between the two, they have four children and seven grandchildren. Mr. Sullivan describes his writing efforts as a literary evolution. "It is a challenge to make characters become alive and to describe scenes with such imagery that the reader becomes connected with the story." He has been a member of the Sonora Writer's Group since 2013.
Michael Sullivan retired from the California Department of Corrections in 2007 as an Associate Warden. He began his career as a teacher at Sierra Conservation Center before becoming a Correctional Officer. He had assignments at Sierra Conservation Center in Jamestown, California, Deuel Vocational Institution in Tracy, California and California State Prison Los Angeles California in Lancaster, California. In 1969, he enlisted in the US Army serving in Korea. He later served in the United States Marine Corps Reserves. He resides in Sonora, California with his wife, Virginia.
