Through the years, the author continued to write poetry, reflecting on the days spent with her mentor, Sister Miriam. These reflections led to the author's use of a pseudonym. Reminiscence of tenth grade literature and her love for the works of the Brontë sisters resulted in the pen name Beca Cross, the first initials of the sisters (Bronte, Emily, Charlotte, Anne) and a part of the author's last name (Cross).
