Ann S. Wright was born during the depression in Gibsonville, North Carolina. She loved reading and story-telling all her life and was known as the class “story-teller”, often making up her stories as she went along. During World War II she married Thomas E. Wright who had flown thirty missions over Germany in the Army Air Force. After the war, Tom felt a call to go into the ministry. As he prepared for this, God opened doors and both of the Wrights attended and finished college. Tom finished seminary, and Ann received her master’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Virginia.
While raising four boys, Ann taught school for 28 years. During this time while Tom was a pastor, Ann was also active in church work. She had her husband traveled extensively-to all 50 states and all the continents except Antarctica. They volunteered for the Foreign Mission Board in Jamaica, Argentina, Africa, Taiwan, and Hungary. They taught English as a second language in Taiwan. Living a full and interesting life gave Ann many ideas for her “story-telling.” Living now in Danville, Virginia, she is a well-known teacher, tap dancer, public speaker, musician, and artist. She has been featured in television interviews and the local newspaper. She is also known for sharing stories of her trips with slide presentations, and monthly programs in a long-term care facility.
Ann is also the author of:
- Move Over, Goldfish, the Secrets to Surviving in the Parsonage
- Chris and Bobby, and His Imaginary Playmate
- Todd Leaves Home
- Children’s Sermons Made Easy
- Children’s Sermons Made Easy, Book II
