She met and married Mr. B, and they relocated to the United States. They lived in California for several years, and their twin boys were born there. Their next move was to Florida. They lived there for three very pleasant years, and from there they moved to Houston, Texas.
Her lifetime employment as a bookkeeper kept her confined in an office building. So when it came time to retire, she looked forward to spending a good portion of her daylight hours outside.
Doreen and Mr. B purchased forty-plus acres of undeveloped farmland in Katy, Texas. Katy is a small town located twenty-five miles west of Houston, a good distance away from all the hustle and bustle of the big city. It was a little piece of paradise, with no water or electricity, a bit of fencing, and lots of grass. The first thing they did was build a large corral for their future horses, something they had talked about for years. After that, the rest is history.
As Mr. and Mrs. B added the horses one by one, Doreen began to realize just how truly beautiful a horse is. As a child, she enjoyed reading books about horses, like black beauty. She did not realize just how affectionate and totally dependent on their owner a horse is. By writing this book, Doreen has tried to express how a horse feels about being relocated and just how stressful it is for them to adjust to a change of owner and their daily routine.visualizza meno
