He grew up thinking everyone was poor but religious. As a young boy, he frequently accompanied his aunt to church. He helped organize a Boy Scout of America troop when he was twelve years of age. At this time he was baptized because ‘a Scout is reverent’. Also the pastor said that he was going to hell if he didn’t join his church. Throughout his life, he has sporadically attended different churches with their different emphasis on religious questions.
Mr. Mitchell was educated at Bethel College, McKenzie, Tn., a four-year Cumberland Presbyterian College. After serving in the Combat Engineers, US Army, 1952-1954, he received a degree in Mathematics and Engineering. Upon graduation, Mr. Mitchell worked thirty-one years in various computer fields, primarily on government defense projects.
After retiring, Mr. Mitchell conducted Bible Study for many years concentrating on the gospels. Using the logical precision that he used in his computer work, he authored the book “Jesus the Messiah, Biography of the Word”, published in 2004. This was a chronological correlation of the gospels considered to be interdenominational. From his bible studies, he remembered many of the questions of his younger days for which he has never gotten satisfactory answers.
Utilizing a computer and the internet, an electronic masterpiece, Mr. Mitchell began to find answers with which he could live. These answers would become the book ‘A Road to Christianity, Islam and Judaism’. Some answers, such as ‘what happens when you die’, have been waiting to be heard. Other answers were not found; e.g., what exactly is the ‘spark of life’. Mr. Mitchell has used the idea of ‘roads’ as subjects/questions to be roamed.visualizza meno
